Bilbao Airport
Bilbao Airport, BIO, is located around 9 km north of Bilbao, in Biscay. It is the largest airprot in the Basque County in the northern Spain. The airport construction started in 1936 and was completed in 1948. It has undergone many renovations and the current terminal has a sleek designs.
Terminal
It has single terminal that was inaugurated in 2000. It was designed by the recognized Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The shape is famously known as "La Palmoa" (The Dove). The terminal has three levels. Ground level is for arrival and baggage claim area. The area has been split into the Schengen and non-Schengen flights. Level 1 has boarding gates (7-12) whereas Level 2 has boarding gates from 1-6. There are many VIP Lounge that are located next to the boarding gates. Level 3 is for ticketing counters, check-in desks, retails shops and restaurants.
